BA - I swear you crack me up! Your dilemma makes me laugh!
The year my D was final, I took $25K out of what Mr. W. owed me and did some serious remodeling. My contractor was someone who had done my office and my former boss's house, as well as work in my previous house. Like you, he was twice divorced, and like you, he had children from both marriages. We got along really well. One day he was talking to me and told me, "I think you are so attractive and fun and under different circumstances, I'd ask you out in a New York minute." I laughed and said, "Pray tell, what circumstances keep you from doing that?" (Not that I would have gone out with him - he had a lot of baggage, but was a really nice guy.) "My crazy first wife's name is Betsy. I just can't do that again. Maybe if you let me call you Lisa or Beth but not Liz. That's my 2nd XW's name."
HAHAHAHA!!!!
You let me know if you need some Vietnamese help. My tech here in Denver is of Chinese descent who migrated to the US from Vietnam in 1977. He and I are a month apart, and we get along really well. I will be more than happy to tutor you in Vietnamese through Eric. He's also fluent in Mandarin, so if you go for that, I could get immediate FB help for you too.
Eric is also incredibly young looking. I tell him all the time that the Asians sure as heck do that process better than any other segments of the human race. He just laughs.
LOL, thanks for the laughs!

Hey Bets - Thanks for the offer of help in both Vietnamese and Mandarin. I've got you on speed dial and won't hesitate to ring you up on a moment's notice.
Glad to provide the laughs - but I gotta tell you this dating for me is starting to feel like an extended version of SNL's old skit with Gilda Radner as Rosanna Rosanna Danna - "It's always something!" For all I know the new Julie will turn out to be the friggin love of my life!
Rosanne, Rosanna Dana. I loved Gilda! Read her biography many years ago. Such a sad loss. Did you know that Martin Short used to date her before he married. Now Martin has also lost his wife. He summers here in my tiny village.
Haven't been on here much. Just saying hi. Ashley is doing some better after her 2 weeks of intense pain & losing her job as a result. I'm now experience some scary health symptoms myself. A few prayers would be appreciated.
My kids are having Christmas today at a mall in Toronto. Hey Wii - stop by Sherway around 11 & you can see it all. So warm & cozy. He & maggot are spending the holidays in San Diego. Shows how close & cuddly they are with her son & grand kids too.
Light, pretty snow is falling here. We took Ryan to a Christmas concert in a nearby tiny town last night. It was good but just like Val - he had a really bad seizure just before it began. Not pleasant when they happen when you are out but he recovered well & enjoyed the show. Special prayers for our special children!
Josh is going shopping today & will pick up the IPads I want to get my kids. I tried to get them on Cyber Monday (we don't have Black Friday in Canada) hut Best Buy & Walmart ran out (ridiculous). I'm going to stay home & do some wrapping - decorating is done & it looks nice!
Just an FYI, Apple has a Black Friday special on line each year . I wasn't actually getting an apple item for the first time in years so I don't know what the deals were but always worth checking out.
Hope your Asley is getting better. Did they ever figure out what actually happened?

Praying for you Barb, I hope your medical issues are light and over quickly.
You can not change your past, but you can ruin a perfectly good present by worrying about the future.
Thanks Subguy! I actually was able to talk to my dr today (on a Sunday!). Some of the news is not so good but I am waiting on some more tests out of town. Sure hope they aren't as bad as they can be.
Kat - we have not figured out what happened with Ashley. It seems it may have been a twisted intestine. She goes back to the surgeon this week.
Josh went to get the iPads and they had 2 deals on. First we got 25 reward miles per Ipad (they convert evenly to Air Miles). Then they also took $40 off (even though it was supposed to be a gift card - this is better). So things went well.
I think Josh is going to get me one of those Smart tvs so I can surf on the tv and run it from my Ipad. That's cool. We will all enjoy it.
Off to a nice dinner with my Lions Club tonight. Our annual "dress up" night at a lovely lakeside resort. They were short the required number this year so I treated Ashley and her boyfriend. They will really like it. Of course Josh and I get to go and dress up too. So all is good today despite the mountains of fluffy white stuff we need to drive through. It's really pretty out there!

Praying you get the best news possible!!

Some very good friends of mine just got one of the Smart Tvs. I helped them mount it on the wall this weekend. It's pretty cool. The only bad thing is now I want one!

Sounds like a great dinner party! Hope you had a fun evening!
Thanks BA! We had a wonderful Lions dinner last night. I was not feeling so great when I got home though. Finally got an appt date for further tests so I'm glad I will find out more soon. Cautiously optimistic.
Ashley is here today helping me organize the house. This makes me happy & gives her a bit of extra cash.
Still shopping (online - it's too snowy outside) & wrapping etc
Hope you get some answers on the diabetes thing. My D16 is pre-diabetic, which we treat with a more strict diet. So far it's been very successful. My dad was diagnosed last summer, and he has not taken the proper steps to keep it in check. He rarely checks his blood sugar and seems pretty obstinate that he doesn't need to. It really bothers me and my sister (more importantly, my mom). He tells us he just doesn't feel bad enough to do something. Grrr. I truly wish you the best.
BA, looks like you enjoyed your "day off" and the chance to catch up a little on the Christmas spirit! Sorry you had to do it in that manner!
We finally broke above freezing yesterday, and it was SO nice. We're supposed to be in the low 50s tomorrow, which is indeed welcome. Apparently, our forecast for next week doesn't look as promising, so I'll enjoy it while it lasts. I just hope that the weather stays okay long enough for D19 to fly home from Albany on Tuesday. She finishes final exams today and is heading to Albany with her BF for a few days. His mom gave them a trip into the city to see the tree at Rockefeller center and a matinee. D16 and I really miss her.
She got in a minor fender bender Saturday with her BF's mom's car. Ugh. Mr. Wonderful and I have already spoken with her, and I think we'll pony up for the repairs so she doesn't have to take a hit if the other kid's insurance won't pay. It was his fault, but you never know what he's going to tell his folks? He hit her in a parking lot without witnesses, so... we shall see. BF's mom was great about it, and a whole lot more concerned about the 2 of them to study for finals rather than worry about something that was no longer requiring attention. She seems like a terrific lady.
Gineen, D16 seems to be doing okay and I think it might have been a fluke. Not sure, but all systems are go. She's getting a little edgy with her dad's absence, so I'm trying to keep things on an even keel so she doesn't really lose it on me. She's going to Zoo Lights with her behavioral therapist on Friday night, so that will make her VERY happy. She's been signing for the zoo for the past 5 days. Like who would want to go to the zoo when it's 8 degrees out? Not me!
The same therapist signed her up to do volunteer work at the Humane Society on Tuesdays, and it's working much better than we ever thought. They call her the cat whisperer! She's been playing with the cats, washing their dishes, and folding towels. In a few weeks, they'll let her start walking the small dogs. She absolutely LOVES this. I'm thinking that we might have a post-HS job for her!
Anyway, if I can keep her distracted enough until D19 comes home, then she'll be okay until Mr. W. gets home on the 20th.
Now, we'll wait for Golf Girl to come in and tell us about her awesomeness!
TTFN,
Betsey
