I'm sorry to hear your son was in such serious condition and hope he's doing well.
I took it as a good sign that there was nothing to talk about with the ex. That meant all the angst and uck had dissipated along with the connection. We were able to talk as parents though.
This is a weird time of year. I find I'm having little flashbacks of being together the last Christmas. Looking back at it, I think this was when he started to sever ties while the marriage was still intact. However, I was suffering from a severe head injury and was pretty clueless and didn't pick up on it until later!
