I've got a few things on my mind at the mo. Those friends at college have calmed down now, but my friend has latched onto them and has been going to lunch with them. I'm left on my own most of the time now when I've not got my son with me. She paired up with me yesterday for body massage, but I could tell she didn't really want to work with me. She's got depression at the mo which doesn't help, but she's been snappy with me and jokes around with the others. I'm supposed to be doing a nail art competition with her on Monday, but everytime I spoke to her about it she was very non committal. I may have made it worse as I spoke to the tutor about it and said I don't want to work with her on Monday. The tutor came up to me later and told me that I'm working on the teaching asst. When my friend left the room at the end, she gave me such a filthy look. I can't get this look out of my head, it was horrible. I don't even know what I've done! I'm going to leave her alone for now and wait until she talks to me again. I'll be pleasant to her, a bit like doing a 180. Is that a good idea or do you think I should ask them if I could go to lunch with them on Monday? The other girls are being nice to me, they are ok with me at the mo I feel like I'm back at high school with the behaviour of some of these students. Most of them are under 20 and there's 4 of us that are older. The under 20 year olds don't mind me hanging around with them, but I feel like their mum, lol.

Well done on the internet being put back on for you TTD180. Also getting the conservatory door reopened. Yes, it does sound like the roof on the conservatory is going to cost a lot. NQ: Only 7 days left now. Two of them are a weekend.

The decorator reckons that it'll be just as good if I have a plastic lean to like the one I've got now, with just a wooden frame. He said that the builder is trying to get some more money out of me by talking about poly carbon sheets and metal bars. The decorator says the reason the roof had warped is that there was no support there. I may have to go with the decorator anyway as the builder has not been back in touch and I'm getting fed up of chasing him up all the time. At least I know the decorator will do a good job and is reliable

Sorry to hear you're still having issues at college. That really s**ks. Maybe DB techniques will work there as well. I've been in those situations where I'm so much older than the rest of the girls in the lunchroom - or in a couple of cases more mature because the two older ones are tempermental and moody and act like spoiled teenagers themselves (MLC ). Sometimes its more like a kindergarten or day care centre than a professional office - we've even had to post notices about making sure the toilet is flushed properly (really, these are grown women )
If you feel more comfortable with the decorator and his recommendations, then I'd go ahead with him. It'll cost you less and you already know the quality of work he does. You have enough on your plate without chasing builders that don't call you back.

I agree about them acting like teenagers. Hopefully everyone will come back refreshed in January and ready to start again Only one full day left I texted my decorator this morning to say that he can have the job if he still wants it. Everyone I've spoken to thinks the cheaper option is better and you're right NQ I've got enough on my plate without having to chase up builders all the time He's good as well, I can leave him in the house on his own and know that he'll just get on with it He reckons it will only take two days to replace the conservatory roof. So far I've not had a reply, so I hope he does get back in touch with me, lol.

So you get a nice long break for Christmas. Lucky you! I have to work right up to 1pm on Christmas Eve, and I’ve only got about 2 days vacation left so I’m going to have to either work between Christmas and New Year (at least half days any way) or take unpaid leave. Sometimes I wish I was a student again LOL . And we come back in January to our busiest two months – retirement savings contribution for current tax year is the end of February and of course all the clients leave things to the last minute.

We're only having a longer break this year because the college is moving back to the old building that's been refurbished It looks fantastic and I can't wait to start at the new building in January We're having an extra week added on to the end of June instead. Most of us will have finished by then anyway What I didn't tell you about the decorator is that he was very chatty and I got his life story. He's split up from his girlfriend or wife, I didn't get that as I don't like to ask. He's got a 5 year old and a one year old, bless Anyway, he's only 29 but he said he wants to take me nightclubbing, lol. I said it takes me a week to recover from night clubbing. It'll be like going out with his mum if he takes me out, lol. At the end of the job, I paid him and he gave me a hug! It was nice to be held again, but I hope he doesn't think there's anymore in it as I'm not ready for a new relationship and certainly NOT a 29 year old! lol. I just hope that he's not been back in touch because he's feeling awkward. I only texted him earlier as I couldn't get hold of him on the phone, but I may ring him if he doesn't ring me back.

Most school boards here seemed to have planned things very well for them - they have a Professional Development Day (supposedly for teacher training) on Friday 20th December so the kids break up for Christmas on the Thursday. I'd be willing to bet there won't be many teachers actually doing training on that Friday! And Christmas break isn't the only time they've done that - Thanksgiving weekend had a PD day on the Friday so the kids got a 4 day weekend and they've done it again at the winter break in March where there's a PD day on the Friday before the break.

I know that when I used to work at a school, we only used to work in the morning on TT days and then a lot of the teachers went to the pub at lunchtime. A lot of the time we got speakers come in to train us on special needs, behaviour, etc. When we didn't have speakers we had to do cleaning or tidying the classroom as I was a dinner lady/classroom asst. I was thinking, if I was you I'd have New Year's Day off as well so you can have a few drinks at New Year Do you get bank holidays off as well?
