Its unfortunate she came to that conclusion with you not being able to take care of the dogs. I can see how that would be frustrating for her, but she has to realize that she left therefore the dogs are her responsibility; it doesnt matter if you have plans or will be home a day. You have a right to say no. Sounds like you handled pretty well.
