The council might "give" him a flat, but he still has to pay rent to them. Those council flats aren't rent-free. I know as I used to live in one - it only cost me 75 pound a week, but you need to pay the rent or they'll evict.

I'd definitely be getting advice on that situation. Have you finally gotten an appointment with the advice centre?
