Hello NQ sorry I haven't been on touch in awhile today is a new day for me I'm starting to bring out my back bone on H. I'm ready to let go now. Its still going to be hard but I think this last situation that H and OW did to me I'm finally waking up now. And as soon as I can get over to MIL house to use her computer to set up a new FB account to join you all too. Take care and I'll talk to you later

My weekend has got of to a wonderful start. I got home from work to find a letter from the CRA (tax) advising that one of the tax credits that I didn't qualify for when married because our joint salary was too high, I now qualify for since I'm separated and only have my salary and that they'd deposited just over $200 into my account covering the period from July 1-October 31, with 2 more payments coming next year(January and April). And then to make things even better, when I checked the bank balance I found another $150 from the government which I suspect represents the back payment on the increased child tax benefit that I know qualify for.

Christmas came early LOL smile At least now I can get this week's groceries without having to take a calculator with me to make sure I don't spend more than I have in the bank, and I can do a bit more Christmas shopping or maybe some new clothes for work.

Thank you very much to the Canadian government.

Nice. In the USA, the IRS would only notify you if you owe them money, and they'd demand it in lump sum unless you spend more than they owe you on accountants or tax lawyers to work out a payment plan. If they owe you money, the'd let you figure it out. Probably then need those accountants and lawyers again. smirk

The IRS aren't very popular up here at the mo. They've decided that if our snowbirds spend more than a given number of days in any 12 month period in their winter homes in FL or wherever, they have to file with IRS. And then to rub salt into that wound, the provincial governments here have decided that those same snowbirds will lose their health benefits if they spend more than a set number of days in a 12-month period in the US. And notice, it's 12-month period, not calendar year. Those poor retirees are now being screwed by two governments.

Almost makes it worth putting up with our winters LOL smile

And add to my good luck, my sister may finally have an offer on her house and may not lose it after all. She's also found a possible place to buy which is a lot cheaper. If everything works out for her, she'll have enough from the sale of her place to pay off the mortgage arrears and lower her monthly payments.

Tonight's glass of fun is a celebratory one! smile

I'll drink to that, too. If I can get this cat off my lap I've got a bottle of hard cider left in the fridge. cool

Yikes. Screwed by two govts is a bad thing. Of course, we get screwed by Federal, State, County, Township, City.... <sigh> I think there's a lot of red tape for people who own property in two states or live in one state and work in another.

Ugh. Thought about taxes again. I better get that drink.... crazy

clink clink cheers smile Although whilst you're all drinking, I'm sound asleep smile Great news on the money NQ smile MH, the government over her is the same, they'll let you know when you owe them money, but they're not as keen to part with it. If you're entitles to anything extra then you have to go hunting for it, such as the gas and electricity reduction that I've just found out I'm entitled to.
