CP, read the French translation for Cream of Wheat - it really is Creme de Bleurgh (although they spell it wrongly as Ble) LOL.

I'll have to tell my tale of an accidental encounter with Pepper Pot Soup... sick But thinking of it makes me heave. I think it's popular with French Canadians. I'd never seen it back home, but now I'm close enough to Ontario that it is in the stores. crazy Somehow I managed to grow up in a state with tons of Mexican food and not ever taste menudo, so this was my first, and last, encounter with tripe. smirk

CP, save yourself. Don't seek out Vegemite. LOL

HWA, your comment reminded me of a funny comment when I googled it, about Americans slathering it on an inch thick.... Probably because we do that with peanut butter, which is practically a staple food. I heard another funny thing - that Vegemite is proof that you can train people to eat anything if you start young enough. laugh

All in good fun. smile

Ok, so we're having a party on TTD's thread and talking disgusting food on this one. Something is very wrong with this picture LOL laugh - who started this conversation anyway crazy .

We're going to have to switch to edible food if we're going to keep talking food smile . So.......my son made me buy the newly named Nestle chocolates yesterday, specially named for Halloween - Scareo (Aero), Scaries (Smarties) and Coffin Crisp (Coffee Crisp). They've also brought out Kit Kat in a mainly black wrapper with a black cat on the front for the season. Just what I need - more chocolate in the house LOL.

One of my FB friends posted a photo link on their page of these chocolates, and of course I shared it with my work friends so now the ladies at work are out looking for them as well smile .

One of my FB friends posted this recipe for jelly worms. They look very realistic! You pour the liquid jelly into bendy straws and wait until they're set. We get some halloween cakes in our stores, but I don't think we've had scareos, etc.

Hmmm, may have to try the jelly worms recipe. My son loves it if we're at a restaurant and he can get jelly worms on his ice cream. He'd probably love it if I could make them for him.

Actually, maybe I'll get him to make them instead of me. He loves cooking and actually went to cooking camp two summers in a row. He's a Gordon Ramsey fan, which may not be a good thing, especially as he can imitate him - "this food is bleep, bleep, bleep awful" (thank goodness he bleeps his imitation LOL laugh ). He's making chocolate Rice Krispie squares for me to take to the office potluck on Halloween - his own recipe, using Mars bars instead of marshmallows. The ladies at work love them.

Bit of a downer at the mo frown . S13 has gone off to his dad's place for the first time. While I should be glad to have a day to myself as I'm going to start the dreaded Christmas shopping this afternoon when the shops open, I'm missing my son. I'm picking him up at 4:30 but I guess I'm so used to having H here on Sundays that it feels really strange. He was here for a little while this morning, while we loaded S13's bike into the back of my SUV and H sorted out some financial business with me, then I dropped them at H's place for the day.

I guess I'm kinda worried about my son as well as H is supposedly going to tell him about his "new friend" although he already knows thanks to FB. And some of the questions he's been asking me also tell me he knows and is just trying to understand - for example, yesterday out of nowhere, my son asks "what's infidelity". Gave him the honest answer - it means not being faithful to someone or something. His response "like Dad you mean" - oops, guess he does know!

Sorry NQ for your downer day. It's hard being apart like that. Focus on the shopping and being out and about.

Your son sounds very wise and he will do great. It's awful to see fathers do this to their kids. How can they possibly think it is ok, I still don't get that.

I will be thinking about you today. Be good to yourself! Maybe buy yourself a nice Christmas present!!!:D
