NQ, we Aussies have never called prawns - shrimp. That was just stupid promotion of Australia in America with Paul Hogan starring. We Aussies all wondered what the heck shrimp was. Hard to keep our "ocker" language when we have so many American shows and stars.
Funny thing about that HWA is that my Tasmanian friend only ever calls them shrimp. We went to an office Christmas party one year and there was prawn cocktail on the menu and she didn't realize it was shrimp until it was served. Unless of course you don't consider Tasmanians to be Aussies LOL
