My dad's been a real sport through all of this. He's not tried to interfere, he's listened to both of us and kept those conversations to himself and above all, he's given me and my son a roof over our heads for as long as we need it. He can be a real pain sometimes, but can't all dads smile , but I know he means well.

He does the dishes most nights and when he doesn's S13 does, so I'm only responsible for the cooking. He's cleaned the windows and the toilets and done the vacuuming (nearly wrote hoovering LOL). He looks after the garden, including freezing or pickling the crop. And he makes the wine that helps me de-stress smile.

Neither am I, and until BD I hardly ever drank at all. Now I find that a glass of wine in the evening helps me sleep better.

My dad's a Black Country lad, born and raised, and apparently still has the accent although I don't actually notice it smile.

lol I love the black country accent smile I've got a few books with black country jokes in it and black country bible stories. It's hilarious! Does he still use black country slang as well? I only have to go a few miles down the road and I'm in the black country.
Wasn't it me who got you onto the wine when you had trouble sleeping or had you been doing that before then? lol. It just helps relax me as long as I don't have it just before bed smile I always wait though until my son goes to sleep. He still has an early night even though he's 19. He's not your typical teen, he always wakes up about 7-7.30. If he wakes up at 8 that's a lie in for him, lol. It doesn't matter how late he goes to sleep, he still wakes up early. That's what annoys me about H because he lets him stay up late and then I've got a tired, ratty son for all of the next day!

Sometimes some black country slang slips in, especially if we've been watching Jasper Carrott on YouTube.

Not sure if it was you or my dad - you know, watching him have a glass or two then nodding off in his chair sleep , and then swearing blind he wasn't sleeping.

My son is getting to be a typical teen. He's great at getting up on school days, but if I left him in bed on a weekend until he got himself up most of the morning, at a minimum, would be gone. And last night even though it was almost 10 when we got in, he wanted "10 more minutes please", and it was nearly 10:30 when he got to bed. At least he got up at 6:30 with his alarm with no problem. He's usual on a 24-48 hour delay on the results of a late night - late night last night would equal tired and ratty either tomorrow or Sunday, but not today. He's been that way since he was a baby.

I just had to google black country accent, and I find this: "Yo’am alwright, aer kid." confused

BBC site has an article on Black Country Dialect. I'm going to have to find some videos. Better head on over to YouTube again.

There goes another 2 hrs. Thanks, ladies.... wink

Dad's favourite is "why doe yo talk proper like wot I does".

You got nothing better to do tonight - you don't really want to stack bookshelves again do you smile? Jasper Carrott is a Brummie - close enough to Black Country. Either him or Lenny Henry - he's defintely Black Country.

Doe you want me to translate or can you work that one out MH? lol. Tell that to your Dad and see if he can work it out NQ, lol.

Just remembered one of my dad's favourite black country area comedians - Blaster Bates. I sat through many an audio tape (dating my dad there a bit smile ) of him, although I've seen his name come up on YouTube as well.

And another one would be Frank Skinner.

There MH, a couple more hours for you to fill wink

Lol NQ, no and I don't want to be doing my bookcase either, I've been putting off moving it for weeks! Well it's a very high bookcase and I'm sure I'd do myself a mischief if I did!
