Betsey

That's cool about your friends. Myself? Never had any desire to visit the Dominican - many other Carribean locales that I enjoy. But the Bride & Groom chose the destination. They had been there a couple of times and wanted family & friends along. Too many would not have been able to attend a "Destination Wedding" but they knew they could convince the wedding party/family to go for a "Destination Honeymoon". It will be over soon. I just hope he is having the time of his life!

Ashley admitted to me the other day that she really gave me grief as a teen. (nice to have that acknowledged). It drove a huge wedge between us that time and distance has started to heal. Still - I'm a bit gunshy around her at times and she still gets a bit snippy - nothing like it was in her late teens though. I'm glad for the opportunities we've been given. Who knows whether she will weather the weather (like that play on words?) But I want to do my best. As she is totally vegan - it is hard to host her for meals (although we try). But to share a movie, a game or a tv show works. On Sunday we watched Miss America together and had popcorn. That was nice and reminded me of years ago when my own Mom did the same with me from about the age of 5 on.

My ex gets no prize - that's for sure. Even Josh went out on his own and bought her a lovely gift. Not just tagging his name on with mine. He is good that way. He got her a lovely metal sign at a Garden Center to hang outside her new apt (It has a porch). It says Welcome and has butterflies on it. He knows that butterflies remind us of my Mom (her Nana).

My sister's Ex H has not done a thing for any of his 3 kids since he left 13 years ago. Usually not even a phone call. In that sense - he's worse than mine. But my kids expect a bit more from Chuck. Ashley got a bit teary on her real birthday. I know it was the stress of moving, new job, over tired but I also know that she felt let down by him. Hard to watch when you've done everything possible to make it grand but that's just the way it is.

Hope your friends enjoy the D R.
