RL - have a great trip - and don't panic, you can get most things you need in the UK also, if you forget anything.

I always forget that when I travel, and go prepared for all eventualities!

Hi everyone! Thanks for your good wishes for my trip. I arrived in the UK late but safely! I expected to gain a day but strangely feel like I missed all of Wednesday.

My flight was on Air India but the actual plane was Air Kuwait, and it was exotic and interesting. It stopped in London then went on to Kuwait, and half of the passengers wore traditional garb. A lot of the men had turbans, either white or jewel colored velvet ones,  and the women in either floaty gorgeous saris in beautiful colors, peach and green and blue, or dressed head to toe in dreary black. So interesting to see the different cultures.

The flight was a red eye and I expected to sleep but around mudnight we were served a delicious full meal, chicken birani with dakoos ( smile I kept the menu) or gobi butji with aloo jira for the vegetarians. I have no idea what I was eating but it was spicy and delicious.

Besides knives, passengers were allowed to bring up to 3 falcons onboard, in boxes. Amazing! Total culture shock!

England is interesting. They do not have insect screens in the windows. My friend did not even know what I was talking about. The stop lights are odd and they get a yellow light indicating when a red light is about to turn green. So everyone starts driving when they see the yellow. I'm glad I don't need to try to drive, just being a passenger in a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road is heart stopping.

I was running on fumes but had been advised not to nap to avoid jet lag, so my friend took me to the local sporting club last night. Sort of a bar but they also served coffee. She plays cribbage on Wednesday and darts on Thursday nights.

She left her H just before my trip so we are sharing her childhood bedroom at her elderly dad's house. He has 4 cats and my H is horribly allergic so I will have to make sure to wash everything well before he returns from Moscow, as all of my clothes are covered with cat hair already. I think she is having a MLC as she told me she loves her H but isn't in love with him! Sound familiar? Holy cow!

I've had 2 emails from H. smile short 2 or 3 sentences, but he is still writing. Tomorrow is our anniversary and I still don't know how to handle it.

It's great to hear from you!

Sounds like an exciting trip so far. Maybe you can talk some sense into your friend, as is definitely sounds like mlc.

I think it's good that your h is still keeping in touch. When I was in India, it was tough to get online and sent out emails, even to friends and family I really wanted to keep in touch with, so I wouldn't be too concerned that the emails are short.

Just try to keep yourself busy tomorrow and don't think too much about the anniversary. My 5th anniversary was when xh was with his ow, so I chose not to contact him about it. Let your h make the move.

Have fun there! Walk around the streets and check out all of the cute charity shops (thrift stores). Cute and affordable stuff!

RL,
Glad to hear you arrived safe and sound. Each country's airline does it's own thing. You had quite the experience on that flight over! LOL!

You will find a lot of interesting things in England. If I remember correctly, very little air conditioning except in the major hotels and businesses. Be sure to look down on the curbing before you cross the street! I love the taxis over there and the double decker buses...but the true fun is the subway system which is very old, but good.

I'm sorry to hear that your friend left her h, but it sounds like a little bit of mlc is coming into play. Observe, listen and be gentle when talking to her about what is going on.

Happy Anniversary! What to do? Go out and have some fun! There is plenty to do and see over there.

Enjoy!

Hi RL...

Glad to hear you have arrived safely. Hope your time there helps to keep your mind off H.

As for your anniversary... my thought is to send a short email back... short message like "hope you are having a nice day, thinking of you" and then go out with your friend for a few glasses of wine and an awesome dinner.

All the best, MM
