Basically F, the next biggest town is 300kms away. A lot of locals actually travel that far to get Hungry Jacks. Brisbane, my home is around 900kms away, an 11 hour trip. We have quite a lot of large mines within 200km of Emerald. A lot of the population are miners, whether fly in/fly out type or ones who live here. There is quite a big difference between the people with regards to wages: miners are on big money (6 figures, work truck, and rental assistance), while original locals who work outside of mines are on standard wages, average 30k to 60k a year.
