It's been a little more than a week since that conversation. I haven't initiated conversation at all. Today, he called me three times in a row (a new, annoying habit he's picked up since last year -- if he calls and I don't answer, he just keeps calling every 2-10 minutes for at least a half an hour) and then texted to ask if I had any paperwork from the lawyer for him.
So that's that.
I find next steps confusing in this situation -- talking to him gets my hopes up and tangled, and not leads to situations like this, where the only contact feels final and businesslike. So IDK.
