Oh Julia you are so lucky that you aren't dealing with them! Hope everything is going well for you. I have missed keeping up with my favorite Brit!

Oh my gosh, so glad. When I think about the life I could have had over the past 6 years to the one I actually lived I would not swap it for anything.

Exh made his bed... But oh that story gave me some glee. But also I appreciated the loyalty the mutual friend (even though he was Ed's old school friend) showed because somehow when affairs happen that is what is robbed of the left behind spouse. I just appreciated that.

I can imagine that it gives you sense of satisfaction to know that not all of xh's friends think that what he did was right or justified or whatever. That's great.

I'm so glad that things have been going so well!

I thought it might be time for an update. I've just come back from a lovely holiday in France, and I fell in love with Paris. Next week I start my teaching which I am super nervous about. It's such a big change in my life, and I am hoping that it is the right choice. It feels like the right choice.

In dating news, I have been seeing a guy this summer who is nice, but still somehow unavailable. He takes me out on lovely dates, even took me away for the weekend but never calls in between. However, I don't really mind that much because I am really not into him, he was a nice distraction but I am going to let it go. I am working up to going Internet dating but for some reason I can't face it.

I am also going to a silent speed dating night where you are not allowed to talk, you just look at each other and write notes. It should be pretty funny!

I'm still living at home but craving my independence. I have to fight my urges to just take off somewhere in the world again. Being here, where I live makes me feel trapped because I feel like a teenager here. However, I know I have to be here for another year and it really isn't so bad.

I am slowly making new friends too, I am off to the Notting Hill Carnival on Monday with new friends so I can't wait for that.

The other news is that I am pretty sure exh and his new wife (his affair partner) have split up. Ok, I should be bigger than this but... Haaaa ha ha ha ha smile My life has been so much richer without him in it.

My other goal is a fitness one. I realised what a complete slave to sugar and processed food I am so I am trying to eat fresh food (wherever possible) even baking my own bread. When I start school
I want to be in a good eating/ exercise routine. This is a fresh start after all. I am starting with a group called military fitness where you train military style in your local park (apparently this is also a good way to meet men! So two birds, one stone and all that) as well as starting Zumba and my swimming training again. I'm hoping I can keep it up this time. It's all a good way of meeting new people too.

Wow JCJ - lots of good things & big changes for you. You're probably so busy you won't even realize you are still living at home - the year will fly by. Good luck on the teaching job - I know you will do great!

I love Paris although the public bathrooms were atrocious AND you had to pay to use them! But that's the downside to travel sometimes. Do you have a travel bucket list? I found that when I wrote it down - I started to make plans to Gitter dun! It works.

Nice you had a fling but even if he's not right for you- you learned more about yourself & are clearer for the next time. I don't think I'd like the silent speed dating although if I hadn't found Mr Right - I'd have gone to the one where you can talk - I have the gift of gab!

Thanks for your update!

Yeah the loos were gross. Most we squat toilets (which I find better) but one of the hazards of travelling. Everyone leaves the city in August and some rent out their apartments and so I was thinking next summer I might see if I can rent somewhere fairly cheaply and stay in Paris for a month and get better at my French. I think I will need the rest after my first year teaching. We'll see, it's just an idea.

It was fun to have a fling with that guy, and very nice to be taken away. He treated me very well. However it really has made me realise I need someone who has a bit of get up and go. I'm an action girl, I need someone who is fun and has a sense of adventure.

My C suggested when I was first dating that I go out with a guy a couple more times even when I was pretty sure he wasn't my type. Just to get clearer on what was my type. Good for you to know what you want and not to settle.

I just can't figure out why, for such a lovely place - they can't improve their toilets! No better than outhouses & in such a cosmopolitan area!

Yeah, that's true. I was talking to my friend about this the other day and we both said that all the significant others in our lives have come about by getting to know them first. The instant attraction relationships haven't lasted but the ones that were growers were much healthier.

Oh Julia that all sounds awesome! I know you will be brilliant with your teaching job. I can't wait to hear your adventures. What grade (ages, since I know you call grades different things there than here and I'm easily confused! LOL) are you going to be teaching?

So boot camp, zumba, and swimming? Wonderful! I love Zumba but my knees HATE it. I started to dread it because of the pain I knew I would be in for the next several days because of it so I had to give it up. I do water aerobics, yoga, kick boxing, and lots of cardio and weight training in the gym. I don't hate it so much anymore. smile I am SO not a morning person so the idea of boot camp doesn't appeal to me. That and they yell a lot. I'm not responsive to yelling. Marc's best friend's mom is a boot camper and she is constantly trying to get me to go with her. You are such a go getter, I think you will love it!

Barb, you mention a travel bucket list. Mine is enormous! I watch Rick Steves and break into tears because I want to go so badly. Sigh. smile
