I think that they were talking about an opening, how to get the guys attention sort of thing. I certainly would say it should be an all the time sort of thing. Since I am 5'3" I often find myself having to reach for something on the top shelf. I don't usually ask anyone for help but maybe have to step on the bottom shelf to reach.

I have had some nice guys offer to help and I usually take them up on it. Now I suppose if there was a guy I wanted to meet, I could ask him to help. I see that as an ice breaker.

I suggest really looking at your reasons when you have the desire to step in and help. I think it is a great quality but what are you getting out of it?
