"Howzit"?????

My H spent a summer working in Hawaii once and learned to speak pidgin - so we've all picked up these pidgin phrases - howzit (pronounces hows zeet) means "how are you doing?"

I think my kids still think pau (finished) is a standard English word!

Yesterday was a little rough, but today I had a big lunch with my D and she talked openly with me about anorexia and the disease process - she's able look at it objectively, which is a very good thing. She's eating much better but still not gaining weight - I've read that sometimes when they start eating again, they don't gain at first because their metabolism gets so revved up, and there's so much repair work going on in their bodies. She's been taking about 2000 calories a day, but we will have to push it up higher. She looks better though - not as pale, and her mood is better.

Tonight I get to go on a date with my H We're going to see a documentary called Touching the Void - based on a nonfiction book about the hairiest mountaineering survival story you will ever read - read that book if you want to read about someone who has it worse than you
