That sounds yummy Heather!

I make this casserole for holidays and special occasions - or when I just want to do something special for my family smile

Creme brûlée French toast

2 Tbs. corn syrup
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 loaf French or Italian bread, thickly sliced (with or without crusts) - also, if you use Italian bread, you won't use the whole loaf

5 eggs
1 1/2 cups of milk (I use skim; actual recipe calls for half and half)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

In a small saucepan combine the corn syrup, butter and brown sugar; simmer until syrupy. Pour this mixture into a 9x13 baking pan that has been sprayed with Pam. Set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla and salt. Pour evenly over the bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

In the morning, leave the casserole at room temp while the oven preheats to 350 degrees. Bake uncovered, for 45 minutes.

Yummy!!!! And hey, even my picky MLCer eats it up smile
