I agree - and I think what you said ties in with Renee's post about why they are angry. The new clothes are probably more like the Emperor's new clothes - not really splendid, at all and not visible to anyone but them!
I think once we are detached and our happiness is not longer tied up with them at all, we can start to relax and enjoy our lives.
