Have you asked S, W or helped S make a list of things he would like? Sometimes younger kids like a few small presents as opposed to 1 big one. There are thousands of things kids love but you know your S better than us.
Remember the thought that goes into a present and it being what he really wants is a lot more than the price you pay for it. I remember eldest S when he was young at xmas time got more enjoyment out of building a den out of one of the boxes than what was actually in it.
Also, remember to avoid the temptation of who gets him the best present wins! Is there anyway you can discuss with W what she was thinking and you agree to buy some things and her the others. Just a thought.
