GWN, I would sell the boat. This is one of the consequences of his actions. You can't continue to bail him out of his probelms, i.e., you are separated. He's the one that needs to find a way to keep the boat.
Don't offer him any help. I would sit on that email for a day or so and let him stew, but do not bail him out. He's hoping that you'll leave things as they are and help him out.
Sit quietly, the answers will reveal themselves when you least expect them to. The past is gone, the present is a gift and you need to focus on today, allow the future to reveal itself when it is ready.
