Happy Birthday! Enjoy the rest of your special day!
Sit quietly, the answers will reveal themselves when you least expect them to. The past is gone, the present is a gift and you need to focus on today, allow the future to reveal itself when it is ready.
Hi Good folks, It looks like we’re having the first real snow storm of the winter! So I thought I would go back in time about winters past and events in my life. By the way I still sleep in the bedroom I was born in!
The longest and hardest winter we’ve had in over 100 years was from Christmas 1962 till the very last days of March 63. When I was 4 years old and our cold water supply into the house froze up for weeks. And there are still remnants of insulation that my late Dad put around our (hot) water header tank pipes in the attic from this period! And for the whole of this 3 month period snow was on the ground, and the whole country struggled.
In the mid to late sixties I remember being off school because the bus couldn’t get thru because of the snowdrifts. This lasted about a week then a snow digger finally made it to the village and cleared the road, but the digger got a broken windshield for its efforts! From an ice snowball thrown by one of my mates! You see we didn’t want to go back to school. I also remember falling thru the ice on a small pond, luckily it wasn’t very deep, only up to my waist in water. But I dared not to go home, so I went to one of my lifelong friend’s house (who was with me) to dry out. My trousers hanging right by the open fire and my socks and Wellington boots.
