This was on Buddhist Boot Camp yesterday. I found it very helpful:

Don't let your temporary struggles become your life-long identity.

We tend to assign a meaning to EVERYTHING we go through (we are meaning-making-machines). This was very important for me to learn through therapy: that I no longer had to identify or think of myself as a "child abuse victim", for example, but rather an empowered survivor (letting that experience make me stronger, not weaker).

We're the ones who put labels on our experiences, so we're the only ones who can go back and change the label on what happened.

I am who I am because of every single thing that has happened to me. We're all battling similar challenges in one way or another, and the more we realize this, the closer we would feel to one another. I am another you, and you are another me. Namaste.
