I just enrolled in "Adult Children of Alcoholics" on Monday nights. So that is one thing I will be doing different in 2013. There also is Alanon on Thursday nights at my church but I'm thinking that Monday's might be better for me

Good for you, PON! I found both very helpful for me and I wish the same for you.

It is awkward at first but keep in mind that everyone in there has been where you are.

They get it.

LA at first it seems like group therapy. They keep talking about recovery. I ordered the AKA book. The good news is the group is very local to my home. The akward was 2 fold. All women and me. One women I use to work with 8 years ago but she didn't seem to care and we shared the same stories. Everyone in the group has control issues like myself.

and oddly enough my W was supportive of me going. At first she asked why are you going now. I don't think she understands that this is a little different from Ala non. Either way she came home from girls night out to allow me to go. She even asked me how the class was.

I plan on attending every Monday. I ordered the book and have my welcome coin in my pocket. They gave me a phone number list for support.

I do have to admit. Me and the W had such a great week that I slipped up and pursued a little. It wasn't a total disaster. She said not yet and besides you have a cold I don't want your germs on me. The good news is I didn't dwell on my mistake. I moved on and acted like nothing happened the next day.

Man it is so hard not to pursue when she treats me so well. She actually physically put her hands on me for the first time since July. Twice actually. She went ice skating on my backyard rink I made. It truly was an amazing week. I can only pray that many more of these weeks will follow.

Glad you had such a great weekend and good to see you attending the class. Keep up the good work.

Wish my W would attend similar class, both her parents are alcoholics.
