Hi wendy,
Sorry if I missed, what is the dream va job you are hoping for? I work closely with the va here in jersey (on the county level), and would be interested in hearing about your plans. Hope you are doing well out there,
GUNNY

Hey Gunny!

I don't know if it is a dream job. But it sounds good to me! The Vocational Rehab VA program accepted me. And are placing me on a job with VA HR here in Hawaii. It is a GS-6 position. I will be working for no pay, except a $600 a month stipend. But it puts current job experience on my outdated resume.

In theory they can hire me into the job after a couple of months, if I work out for them. It is the office that makes the security badges. It would require travel to the neighbor islands, Guam and Samoa. During the interview they got to the part about the travel. The director of HR was interviewing me, and he asked how I felt about traveling to Guam and Samoa. I smiled and said that I used to live in Guam, and that wouldn't be a problem.

I have also continued to apply for other GS jobs. I did get an application to come back as "qualified" for a GS-9. So I am doing the paperwork right. Although I was qualified I was not the most qualified.......

So, today I worked out with President Obama again. And I made sure I finished in time to go out and wait in the meet and greet area, so I got to shake hands with him! And a nice gal took my photo and emailed it to me!

I had some FB friends writing hateful things, I don't understand it. When they post photos/words/links about their own personal feelings/beliefs I don't write childish things on their posts. I just roll my eyes and move on down the page. I guess I should just start unfriending people. I am not a political creature. And I think President Obama is a cool guy. Certainly if one of my "friends" had got to meet Glen Beck I would have just thought it was cool for them, since they admire him so much. I wouldn't have suggested the hurry home to wash the lieing cooties off!

Maybe my time in the military left me with an everlasting respect for the commander in chief?!?

No matter what, in person he is a nice polite man. When you pass by him in the gym, or he passes by you, he says hello, how you doing? etc. Very down-to-earth and he works out hard. I was proud to shake his hand and glad he was able to come back to Hawaii and spend time with his family relaxing. I was also proud I nailed the handshake, I sure would have hated to have not gotten that right.

Come on, it is so thrilling to meet a president. All of them are appparently very charsmatic in person. It's really electric, I think regardless of your affiliation

I think politics should be kept as much out of one's facebook as possible. No two people will agree completely. Cool that you shook your president's hand. I'm sure even Glenn Beck would do so.

Take care.

And I got the call! I start my Non-Paid Work Experience Monday! YEA! A new year, a new beginning.

I am really looking forward to this. I think I have become way too set in my ways. This will be a nice way to move on in a new direction as an independent person. Not someone who feels stuck in a loop as the other half of a couple that is no longer a couple.

I don't put political stuff on FB. THOUGH I put two things up the other day after my own sister was amazingly rude about my working out with the president. But I keep forgetting that people don't change their opinions. So she isn't talking to me right now.

My supposed best friend has also been being nasty and reciting me tea party lines, chapter and verse. UUUGGGGGG!!!!!

I have decided I need new friends. And I am going to make political beliefs a part of getting to know new people. That way I can not bother to become close friends with people who have completely opposite views from me. And who I can't have a conversation with because I might hurt their feelings. And most of all who don't give a rats a$$ about my feelings.

Though how my liking President Obama makes my friend segway quickly into breaking down into tears over "Morning After" pills kind of worries me about her mental health....

Congratulations on the job! I think you will enjoy being out of the house and doing some different from what you are doing now.

Yes, definitely a new year and a new beginning for you!

Knock the socks off of them on Monday!

So we showed our house again today. And someone else was having an open house down the road from us, so I ended up with 2 other couples checking out the house. I used to be a realtor, so I know that those people are probably not going to buy the house. But it was nice hearing some feedback.

Pretty much the feedback was people think I ought to be selling my quilts.... funny!

I'm going to do yoga and make sure I go to bed on time. I am like a kid worried about the first day of school. I have my red tea and decaf tea in a baggie in my purse. Wouldn't want to expose those poor people at my new job to me on caffine!

I hope everyone had an exceptional weekend!

Yes, you should be selling your quilts!!!

Don't worry about the job tomorrow - with your newfound DB skills, you can handle anything they throw at you, like a ninja! You'll be surprised how useful those DB skills are in the work world.
