My father left when I was very very young, we had sporadic contact in the years to follow. Today we get along great and have a lot of contact, but it's almost more of a friendship than father/son.

I understand your hurt and disappointment, but you can only control yourself and be the great mother you are. Worrying and trying to fix the other part will drive us crazy( crazier?)

I was only there for some weeks, but experienced a lot.

When I read through threads it strikes me how different some of our situations are, and yet our sitches can be so very similar in certain aspects.
