I don't know if it is a dream job. But it sounds good to me! The Vocational Rehab VA program accepted me. And are placing me on a job with VA HR here in Hawaii. It is a GS-6 position. I will be working for no pay, except a $600 a month stipend. But it puts current job experience on my outdated resume.
In theory they can hire me into the job after a couple of months, if I work out for them. It is the office that makes the security badges. It would require travel to the neighbor islands, Guam and Samoa. During the interview they got to the part about the travel. The director of HR was interviewing me, and he asked how I felt about traveling to Guam and Samoa. I smiled and said that I used to live in Guam, and that wouldn't be a problem.
I have also continued to apply for other GS jobs. I did get an application to come back as "qualified" for a GS-9. So I am doing the paperwork right. Although I was qualified I was not the most qualified.......
So, today I worked out with President Obama again. And I made sure I finished in time to go out and wait in the meet and greet area, so I got to shake hands with him! And a nice gal took my photo and emailed it to me!
I had some FB friends writing hateful things, I don't understand it. When they post photos/words/links about their own personal feelings/beliefs I don't write childish things on their posts. I just roll my eyes and move on down the page. I guess I should just start unfriending people. I am not a political creature. And I think President Obama is a cool guy. Certainly if one of my "friends" had got to meet Glen Beck I would have just thought it was cool for them, since they admire him so much. I wouldn't have suggested the hurry home to wash the lieing cooties off!
Maybe my time in the military left me with an everlasting respect for the commander in chief?!?
No matter what, in person he is a nice polite man. When you pass by him in the gym, or he passes by you, he says hello, how you doing? etc. Very down-to-earth and he works out hard. I was proud to shake his hand and glad he was able to come back to Hawaii and spend time with his family relaxing. I was also proud I nailed the handshake, I sure would have hated to have not gotten that right.
