Thank you all for your support and advice.
I know Mr Bond has good insight, and I have to keep shifting my perception of things, which in turn will change my answer to situations.

For the moment I have an appointment for the 1st Jan. to Skype with young Bruce.
Do you think I should call before New Year's Day, when W is not home (without warning), and just ask plain if I can speak with my son?
