Ad,

I just wanted to tell you that I just recently (Nov 5th) went to court to get legally separated. It was not what I wanted to do, but had to for money and custody reasons. I am in NOVA although not sure western?? (Im bad about that stuff)!

Anwyay, we are kinda in the same area and I can tell you that my H is ordered to pay my mortgage until the divorce ON TOP OF child support and spousal support. Now, I havent worked for 14 years, but still...you should be getting something other than just your mortgage paid!!!

As far as visitation, my H gets my girls every Wed night from 6-8pm and then every other weekend. HOlidays are every other year and on Christmas, I get them Christmas Eve and then Christmas morning until noon and then he gets them from noon on...

My kids are 14 and 11 so my 14 year old has choice to go or not, and they both have yet to stay with him at his parents one time since he left. So, he basically just takes them for a few hours on a Sat or Sun that falls on his weekend and does something with them. It was also supposed to be his Thanksgiving this year, but they chose to stay with me and my family and he was fine with that. He said he would never make them do something that they didnt want to do.

Health Insurance is the same as you said...he has to carry me on his policy until we divorce but he will continue to cover the kids.

College stuff wont come up until divorce, as well as the sale of the house. Right now , the house is exclusively mine but he pays the mortgage.

Car stuff was the same..I keep my car, he keeps his. Of course, mine is 10 years old (but just hit 100,000 miles) and his is new. He gets the car payment! His car was only in his name, but mine is in both, so he still needs to sign over the title to me.

For taxes, we are filing jointly this year and splitting the refund we always get!

That is some of what our legal papers say...since we are from the same area, if you have any other questions I can try to answer them for you since we actually both had lawyers and went to court over this crap. Makes me sad everytime I think about it...I just didnt want it to be this way...ever!

Sorry you are going through this...I at least felt better to have an attorney guide me, but it cost me $2500!
