Wendy, in response to your question about neutropenia... I am actually quite interested in health but I'm not in the medical field. My sister is an oncologist though, and I am a breast cancer survivor. When I was doing my chemo I had to have shots of Neupogen to prevent neutropenia.
I had actually heard of this before that when I was in business school - one of my colleagues worked for the company that makes Neupogen and for some reason they were doing a presentation on it and the whole thing stuck in my brain.
Maybe it's not available in the UK but there is definitely a drug out there for this. You should ask your consultant about it. Neupogen is the trademarked name, it's made by Amgen.
