It speaks to the many number of us "rescuers" and "fixers" that there are out there, such that this story line makes for a successful series. "House" is similar, with a grumpy, emotionally messed up doctor. Doesn't have the scenery, unfortunately.
Frankly, I think it's great that you recognized the "script."
