It's not real. It's a teenage fantasy. An escape. Remember in high school how you could fall in and outta love so quickly? I was always in love with the fantasy, the romance of it all--when I was sixteen. There you have it. In love with the idea of being in love. The ultimate escape from reality. When you're in your mid-forties, however, reality has a way of biting you in the A$$.
And, sooner or later it will all come crashing down. What are they thinking???? Bizarre. I'm glad his sister confronted him on his weirdo behavior. It's nice when others can see through the facade. My H was able to convince everyone for months that I was mentally ill and a slacker. The truth bubbled to the surface like it always does. They ain't lookin at him with such fondness anymore. In fact, everyone is keeping their distance.
Avoiding reality, especially when you have kids and grown up obligations has its consequences.
Hang in there. Heather
