I am pretty new on the boards, but have been reading and wanted to give my support. I am also getting ready to do the legal stuff but my H and I are heading to court a week from Monday. I'm a nervous wreck also:( Ours is for our legal separation.
You mentioned the approaching holidays and that is going to be tough for me also. I want to keep my kids over both the upcoming holidays, but I also know its important they see H too:( I am not willing to do it jointly, as it will be too uncomfortable right now. I am trying to put my anger and hurt with him aside and realize that they need to see him , but its so easy to want to keep them away since I feel that he was the one who walked out. UGGG...
I agree with bond that you need to make plans also for your kids. Anyway, good luck to you. I will continue to read your posts. i also feel for you about your dog. I have 2 and they are part of my family.
