Music wise I perform what I call "drinking music". Songs from 50's right through to today. Good old pub songs. It's been hard performing as most songs I do have some connection to relationships or something along they lines. Ya know what I mean.
Hey mate! I totally see what you mean. I'm in the same boat and every time I go through my repertoire, it feels like it's aimed directly at my W. Sometimes I wish she walked in the bar where I play when I'm singing stuff like "I'll Stand by You" by the Pretenders, or "Love of my Life" by Queen. I always nearly crack up in tears at the end of "Everybody Hurts" by REM. It's been good for my interpretation though. People comment that I sing these songs like I mean them.
