Also like most mlcers they don't want to be labeled the bad guy. Can't he still be a loving a supportative great friend even as he leaves the family?

I work hard to juggle validing him and his feelings but also subtley saying it's not okay what you are doing to your kids. I actually hope that surrogates like friends and family tell him this is not okay.

Thank him for the card but it's no more special then a card from a friend. It doesn't need to signify anything or start a conversation.
