Yea I hear what your saying about the euro. Scotland is still the pound though so even though Europe effects britian were still independent as far as currency goes. Saying that though my mortgage advisor has said once the euro states start to fall apart it will effect the British banks and getting lending or a mortgage will become impossible.
The way I see it is I want a base that's mine. Start to build again, find my feet. What I would pay back on a £100000 mortgage ($175000ish) would work out about the same as renting. Say £450 a month rent £420-£460 depending on the loan a month. I'd rather be spending cash on something that's mine rather than giving soneone else money. Also if I meet soneone else I don't have to sell my place rather rent it out and let soneone else pay my mortgage. Seems a no brainier to me.
I do take on board what your saying though and see your point.
