About the self-help books, I used to sleep with 3 or 4 in the bed beside me (H's side, of course). On those many sleepless nights I would wake up and start to read from one or the other.
I amassed quite a collection and soon they were moved to the nightstand on that side of the bed. Just a month or so ago, I sorted through and got rid of those I no longer wanted, so now I'm down to just a few.
They were useful at the time and I'm so glad to be on this side of the experience.
