No gifts. No feelings. Just want to say something about the date. That's a great suggestion, and fairly benign. I do sense with some time apart from the kids she has begun to realize things going forward won't necessarily be how shed like them to be. Not enough for her to consider working on us, but accepting she's not going to have the things most precious to her on a daily basis. Will see how she handles that over the coming weeks.

I concur with Starsky! I personally wouldn'y even get a card, but that is just me...My wife sent a quick text on my Birthday that said "Happy Birthday". Hurt a bit due to us being together for so long, and the fact that she always gone out of her way to do things for all of us on special occasions. But such is life!

I sent her a quick text depicting the same thing a week later for her Birthday. Not sure she was so concerned about any of it, but that would be that "analyzing" thing that Starsky tells us not to do smile

It's a little like the same dynamic with how you tip crappy service at a restaurant. If you leave NOTHING, the server may just think you FORGOT. Whereas, if you leave a NICKEL, then they get the message, LOL.

Plus, you want to take the high road.

Oh, and if you DO go the card route, no mushy note, or not even a "Love, FNM" -- just a "FNM".

Good advice. Not sure, but a laugh may be good.

Shoebox just may have something that even kinda fits -- something that "Hey, if you didn't laugh, you'd cry" appropriate.

I really like your honesty. I am the same sometimes wishing the worst for my wife who is a WAW even though I know it's wrong to want to see people fail. I guess it's a natural thing when your hurt so much by someone. There was an OM or a PA in my situation tho so it hurt more.

A personal note with humor that doesn't include sarcasm if you can pull it off..goes a long way.

Thanks dbmod

I bought a blank card and intend to do just that, thought Starsky had a great approach. Even though we are going through hell, it's still a day worth acknowledging is special, and not just an ordinary day.
