My wife is going to see if she can get a loan to repair the car. Her credit is not good so I volunteered to co-sign her application. If she can't get the loan I will pay for the repairs but she's paying me back. Believe me I will get the money back. I think this is something she needs to do. Not only will it help build her credit, it may help her feel better about herself.
