I have said before that ANY contact -- even NEGATIVE contact -- with a former affair partner can set the recovering formerly-wayward spouse back into withdrawal. Just having others mention the person, and/or keeping you posted on what they are doing (even if it's a NEGATIVE report about the person) is detrimental to marital recovery.

It's a physiological (brain chemical) thing.
