OK, please keep us posted, Mac. I also put out an urgent plea to a Facebook friend of mine, who's a veterinarian, to stop by your thread by I have no idea of knowing how often she checks her FB (I don't think very often). Please let us know how your doing when you get a chance. -- Starsky
Oh this brought a smile to my face, Mac! So glad your girl is doing well and nothing serious.
Did they say what is causing her the hip pain? I lost my old boy, at white lab (at age 14) one year ago, and during his later years there were three things that REALLY helped him with his leg pain (he had a torn miniscus when he was younger, and we opted for these other methods rather than surgery):
1. Lost weight. We put him on a diet-and-exercise program that took him from about 100 to about 79 pounds.
2. Glyco-Flex. A natural supplement that lubricates their joints.
3. Nuvox -- a WONDERFUL pain med that was SO damned effective, in fact, that we had to start giving him a half a tablet instead of a whole tablet, because he felt SO good, that he'd try to do too much on what was really a weak leg!
Not sure if any of those will fit your situation, but if she has chronic hip pain and/or arthritis, maybe you can ask your vet about these.
Starsky you are a font of knowledge in more ways than one!
Ashley has been given Previcox (Firocoxib / Equioxx). It's a non-steroidal anti- inflammatory used for the control of pain and inflammation.
The vet has found these to be very effective but I'm still going to ask about your suggestions.
Oh and the "not serious" bit - it's a wake up call to me that the old girl really is just that. And noes the time to give her extra attention. 'Cos she's worth it

So Ashley is the dog? I thought that was your wife at first. What kind of dog is Ashley?
