It's nice to read a post and smile. Not just because you know the poster is going to be ok; but because you know the poster is going to be ok, and their spouse wants to try and reconcile.
I agree fully with your thought that it had to be real. And until you were really done, you have learned so much. Not just about relationships, but really about you. What you liked and what you didn't in yourself. What was acceptable and what was not in yourself, and in others.
