Of course, now I wish I hadn't acted so (arguably) selfish with the money/asset issue, and I do feel bad about that.
I wouldn't feel bad about that. While he got angry about it, he probably likes the fact that you are standing up for yourself (especially if this is a 180). And even if he doesn't, you have to be good to you and do what is right, regardless how they react.
That's true. I am not usually assertive, but on the other hand, I guess I was often selfish. In the end, I got what I wanted/needed/should have gotten but I just wish I had discussed it more rationally.
