The detachment article is really powerful, and I am going to really have to think about this and what I can do now.

Is counseling rushing into things, or is it a good step right now?

I'm having such a hard time not contacting him. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A counselor for you?
Or a marriage counselor?

A DB counselor might be the best idea.

A marriage counselor for both of us. I scheduled an appointment for myself for Wednesday, and my husband said he'd "think about it."

If he really wanted to go to marriage counseling, he would suggest it. I think having him with you there now would just make him feel resentment because he would be doing it for you.

I think he may just need another perspective, though. He agreed to try it for a month, and if he doesn't think it's helping, I won't pursue it. I'm considering calling a DB coach when I get back to NY.

Ok, yeah, I am definitely going to give coaching a try. As soon as I get back on Monday, I'm calling. I feel like I need to.

My husband is being so kind and rational and even acknowledging that he was a large part in our marriage failing. Does that make this less hopeful?

You could call today and get an appointment set up for next week. There is usually a few days' wait to get a session scheduled.

My husband has agreed to marriage counseling! I'm so happy.
