Does MC have a purpose when one person is uncertain about the M and doesn't feel like trying to work things out?

The last MC said there isn’t much she can do for our situation since my W is uncertain and unwilling to do any "homework" because she doesn't know if she wants to make our M work.

Is there a different type of MC with different approach that can be taken? If so, how is this type of MC identified?
