Last year for V-Day, P was away on a military tasking in Wales.
He came home the weekend after and we had rented a little chalet on a lake that was in the middle of no-where, deep in Quebec. The place was amazing. The restaurant served all local game. We had a bottle (or two or three) of wine and had Caribou for dinner. Soaked in a hot tub with snow falling on our heads. The next day we snow shoed around the lake.
I remember we stumbled across a little rustic cottage that was for sale and jotted down the number to call later and see how much it was. We never called.
Funny things: - P put out candles all around the room and put some on the electric fireplace. Well they spilled over the edges of the container and I had some fun cleaning up the wax after!
- The bathroom was wide open to the room. Great for the jet tub, not so great for the latrine. In the morning I had to leave for some fresh air!! Lol
- We were snowshoeing along the edge of the lake and we hit a soft spot and I sank up to my ankle. We decided to try and get off the ice and go on the edge since we were worried we'd fall through. The land said no trespassing but we figured,
A) who'd catch us and B) if they did, they would understand why when we explained it was just to get past the soft part in the ice.
This HUGE guy comes flying out of his house in undies and a wife beater, complete with shotgun in HAND!! He is French so P starts explaining why and telling him it would only be for a few meters, until the ice was hard enough again. Nope. Not good enough. He made us go back on the ice, OFF his property! Loll I couldn't stop laughing.
Last year I got P the box set of some TV show. The Tutors I think. And a card that said EVERYTHING I wanted to say PERFECTLY. I honestly just had to sign it. It was uncanny.
P got me a blue rose that was frozen. So pretty. And he bought us a 'romance' kit, which included rose petals for the bed and candles. And a lingerie set that matched the rose.
His card is what blew me away though. We had talked marriage but weren't planning it in detail at this point. He bought me a card that was a singing card, it had Unchained Melody as the tune. Inside it said to my lovely wife and he had added "future" above wife. And he said a bunch of beautiful things in it, which I shall keep in my heart.
Thanks for listening. This memory is both a beautiful one and one that makes my heart ache. Last night (like a turd-head) I went and read the cards we gave to each other. If you HAVE NOT done this already. …… I highly DO NOT recommend it!
