Alright I've lucked out big time! She wants to meet Sunday at 11:00am rather than 3:00 pm. She's wants to visit a placement agency in the afternoon to make inquiries. That means I get to watch the NY Giants kick the crap out of the 49ers. When I made arrangements with her I kind of forgot about the game. This proves there really is a God!
Chatted briefly yesterday with SDA Lady. I passed on a lovely quote on smiling, seeing as how we'd both said that we each make the other smile. She replied "thanks for the quote, I like it. You also have a nice smile and seem like such a jolly man!" Btw, most of her family lives in Alaska...neat. Anyway, I said I'd be in touch later in the week to firm up our meeting arrangements.
Well, I won't bore you with how we got there but SDA Lady and I ended up talking on the phone tonight for forty five minutes...but I will say she phoned me...but not out of the blue lol. It turns out she worked in Hong Kong for 8 years before coming here. So we talked about Central, The Peak, Mong Kok, the New Territories (where she lived),the MTR, Nathan Street, The Harbour, places to shop... and we know all the same Cantonese words! We had a lovely long chat, laughed as we traded Cantonese words and phrases and made our plans for Sunday. We also talked about her plans to go back to school. It was a nice chat with a nice lady. I'm looking forward to meeting her Sunday.
It was funny last night, I answered the phone and the voice at the other end said "Hello, I just thought I would call you, is that OK?" and I said "Sure, that's great!" as I quickly thought "OMG, which one is this?" ...and it's not like the accent is gonna narrow it down for me! So I faked that I knew who it was for a minute and then I clued in. We'd been texting for a bit earlier and she recognized that we both texted like tortoises (that was her last text to me "we both text like tortoises lol!") so she decided to end the textual butchery and call me!
Sent SDA Lady an email this morning "just wanted to take a minute to say how much I enjoyed talking with you last night. It was neat to find we both share a connection with Hong Kong. I'm very much looking forward to Sunday! Hey, do you think the coffee shop has a Chinese New Year blend lol? Ingat ka (take care), Whatis" So there will be no further contact tonight...on my part at least. I don't imagine she will either. She told me she was nervous about phoning me yesterday so I wanted to let her know today that her effort was recognized and appreciated. My goal for this evening...to find some Pepsi Max.
