Btw, re my divorce. The court is waiting for the Divorce Clearance Certificate from Ottawa. Once that is received the process server will file my documents.
today was my daughter's 18th birthday. STBX and I took the girls out to a steakhouse to celebrate. I've got some great pictures of D14 gagging on scallops with goose liver! Afterwards we went back to STBX's to have cake (red velvet with cream cheese icing. D14 stayed up late last night baking it with a recipe from her Cake Boss cookbook) When we arrived D18 received an email from a local university advising her that she was being offered admittance for the next school year. Hooray! In the middle of opening her presents she burst into tears and said "this has been such a perfect birthday". Tomorrow she's going to buy her first lottery ticket lol. It was a wonderful family evening and it's a blessing to know that at these special times we can still be a loving family despite everything else. I am blessed indeed.

Thanks Mish and Being Me! D18 bought her first lottery tickets today. She said "Daddy, I won $14!" I said "how much did you spend " Uh, $12...but I'm up $2!" She's on a roll lol.
Well, she certainly isn't like me, I've never bought a lottery ticket in my life! I do go to the horse races sometimes though lol. Tonight I started going to a book study group at a nearby church. We are studying The Heart of Christianity by Marcus J Borg. I don't belong to this church but it was one of the two I was considering six months ago. What a wonderful evening. There were about 15 of us and the people were so welcoming and friendly. I had a great time, can't wait to go back in two weeks. I came home and phoned Rambo lady as I'd said I would call back and thought it a good idea to follow through! No answer but I left a message. That way she knows I did what I said I'd do. Anyway, that's my day.
New lady has returned after a four day absence, apologizing for the delay in getting back to me and saying "I hope to hear more from you!" so we've been emailing tonight...turns out she's a Seventh Day Adventist...here we go again! Where do I find these women?!
Lol, I apologized to her for writing so much, I said "I haven't mastered the short email yet" She said "don't apologize for writing so much, I like it. I'm learning a lot from talking with you!" We've called it a night, we're both tired. I'm going to bed Dbers.
She's a convert from Catholicism. Again, often I find that the faith someone professes to be and what they take from that tradition as important in their lives can be very different. She told me she was attending a bible study but stopped recently. I told her my faith journey, in as short an email as possible...for me lol. It's just funny that since I moved to a more liberal perspective I'm running across these women who come from conservative traditions. Thanks for your thoughts G, always appreciated!
