These types of situations (MLC, betrayal & heartbreak...what's not to laugh about??) really do lend themselves to comedy IN TIME...

b/c the line between tragedy and comedy is a fine line. Hence the phrase "dark humor" and a lot of dry wit.

The issue is timing-- figuring out if enough time from the tragedy has occurred for you to now joke about it. This is a fine place to figure that out! And it IS therapeutic!
