When I was growing up, I had a dog. At least from 8 years old on anyhow. I bought a dog when I when I was struggling with infertility and it has now been 10 years at least that I haven't had one.
I know S16 has wanted one and you would think with a house full of kids and 2 ferrets and 2 cats, I wouldn't even go there. However I have been thinking about it for a couple of months and so this past Saturday I hopped in the car with the boys and said, let's go look at the shelter. Just as we headed out, an add for the shelter came on the radio. they were giving a discount over this weekend for those adopting pets.
S19 knows that I believe in signs. He pipes up, "Mom it is a sign. We are meant to get a dog!" I laughed at him but agreed it was a bit odd with the timing.
After we get there, we spot a litter of 8 week old puppies. they were Westie mix(mixed with a lab, I think!!) Anyway about a half hour later and the three of us in love with him, we adopted Cooper. Merry Christmas everyone. I will post a pick soon on the alt. His eyes will melt your heart.

Oh and another strange thing, they had only just been brought in an hour before we got there. Time for them to get their Parvo shots and settle down. So yes, I suppose it was meant to be.

I'm a dog person all the way. There is nothing sweeter than a puppy and no better feeling than a happy wagging tail meeting you at the door after a long day.

I love all of our pets but there is something about a dog. They let you know how much they love you while cats and sometimes, ferrets can be aloof.
I needed a small to medium breed and it had to be relatively young so that it didn't have a pre-existing idea about cats. There were a couple sets of puppies but these looked to be the smallest.
So far the cats have been tentative and he loves Nada even though she isn't to sure what to make of him. They keep an eye on him but have stopped hissing. It's only been a few days so I think this is going well.

I finally posted pics of Cooper on the alt. I was by myself at the time and everytime I said his name he would run towards me! I just wanted to get those adorable brown eyes!
