Maybe because I'm feeling a little sorry for myself tonight... I thought it might be fun to start a thread and see what songs people absolutely want banned from the radio/internet because they just rip open the feelings about our sitches too much...
... OR... what songs really speak to you right now...
I'll start: For the bannation list: "Someone Like You" by Adele
Speaks to me right now: "Breakfast at Tiffany's" by Deep Blue Something
Married 6 together 8 Me:38 W:31 second marriage for both SS12, SD10, S6 Bomb: 9/8/11 (day before our 5 yr ann) W moved out: 2/18/12 D final: 11/12/12 Share S 50/50. Spend as much time as I can with SS & SD
Ever since I started DBing "Just Wait" by Blues Traveler has been quietly playing in my head like an anthem.
Just Waity
If ever you are feeling like you're tired And all your uphill struggles leave you headed downhill If you realize your wildest dreams can hurt you And your appetite for pain has drinken its fill
I ask of you a very simple question Did you think for one minute that you were alone And is your suffering a privilege you share only Or did you think that everybody else feels completely at home
Just wait And it will come
If you think I've given up on you you're crazy And if you think I don't love you well then you're just wrong In time you might take to feeling better Time is the beauty of the road being long
I know that now you feel no consolation But maybe if I told you and informed you out loud I say this without fear of hesitation I can honestly tell you that you make me proud
If anything I might have just said has helped you If anything I might have just said helped you just carry on Your rise uphill may no longer seem a struggle And you appetit for pain might all but be gone
I hope for you and cannot stop at hoping Until that smile has once again returned to you face There's no such thing as a failure who keeps trying Coasting to the bottom is the only disgrace
Great idea for a thread, WHG. It wasn't until after my sitch that I noticed just how many songs on the radio were about breaking up with someone.
Banned:
Duran Duran -- "Ordinary World" Michael Bolton -- "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" Toni Braxton -- "Unbreak My Heart" REO Speedwagon -- "Take It On The Run" Sinead O'Connor -- "Nothing Compares 2 U" Joy Division -- "Love Will Tear Us Apart" Kenney Chesney -- "Somewhere With You"
Speaks:
Chris Isaak's album "Mr. Lucky" seems to have been based entirely on a relationship that ended when his ex cheated on him. It's comforting to know that even famous people can feel torn-up, too.
Also, Van Morrison has quite a few break-up songs that I've heard. All of them are comforting, too.
Oh yeah WCF -- the rich and famous have the same pain we do, the artistic ones just channel it into something creative like great songs.
Banned: Most of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album (it was recorded while 4 out of the 5 were ending R's and it shows--- songs like 'Go Your Own Way" classic breakup song!
Banned AND speaks to me: Tori Amos "Tear in Your Hand" from the Little Earthquakes album.
If you haven't heard that song, go look it up and listen to it. I think it speaks to the whole LBS situation eloquently. And Tori Amos is a fantastic singer!!
Tear in Your Hand starts out:
"All the world just stops So you say you don't want to stay together anymore.... take a deep breath... etc....then.....
And i'm black of the blackest ocean = and a tear in your hand You don't know the power you have with that...tear in your hand."
I cry every time I play it. Lately, a few times.....
Me (f): 45 W(f) 35 T: 13 y C: S4 adopted at birth 6-18-11 bomb: I want to break up 8-28-11 OW confirmed
Banned - "Need You Now" Lady Antebellum I haven't listened to much music since the bomb but it seemed every time I turned on the car radio, this was playing.
Can't think of a Speaks to Me right now.

Let me give up the need to know why things happen as they do. I will never know and constant wondering is constant suffering. Caroline Myss
